The Slovak legislation on regulation in energy industry is resulting from the 3rd Liberalization Package of the European Union for the internal electricity and gas markets.
The Third Package has been transposed to the Slovak legislation as of 1 September 2012, and thus in the form of new acts on regulation in network industries and on energy. The key modifying issues brought by the new legislation may be focused into two spheres- these are measures for the development of energy supply market competition and improvement or customer protection.
The legislation on regulation of network industries covers broad spectrum of generally binding legal provisions from the industries of electricity, gas, heat energy and water management.
Within its competencies defined in the law, the Regulatory Office for Network Industries, has been issuing executive (secondary) legal provisions in the form of Ordinances and Decrees.
